Mechanical Technician

Wilson Brown Sock Company is seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanical Technician to help keep our state-of-the-art sock knitting operation running at peak performance. This hands-on position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving circular knitting machines and supporting equipment to ensure maximum production efficiency and product quality.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on sock knitting machines.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to scheduled maintenance programs.
- Set up, adjust, and optimize knitting machines for production.
- Troubleshoot machine performance issues to minimize downtime.
- Replace worn or damaged mechanical components.
- Assist with machine changeovers and new product setups.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
- Work closely with production supervisors and machine operators to resolve equipment concerns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely and according to company standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop and work area.
- Assist with installation of new machinery and equipment as needed.
- Support other manufacturing departments with maintenance needs when required.
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude with experience repairing industrial equipment.
- Experience with circular knitting machines is highly preferred but not required.
- Manufacturing maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical diagrams and technical manuals.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic welding, fabrication, or machining experience is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds safely.
- Work around moving machinery while following all safety procedures.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
